Making the important distinction between Vocal Technique and Vocal Style

Posted by: Angie Arsenault on November 2, 2009 in: Vocal Techniques, Vocal Training

So many singers out there are afraid of taking vocal lessons in fear of loosing their vocal style. As Joel shares with us in the video, the two are separate. Improving ones technique will not take away from style; technique helps keep the vocal instrument healthy and can even enhance style as the voice becomes stronger, more flexible, giving the singer all the more options to choose from while protecting the instrument. Nowadays, even hard rock and heavy metal singers take voice lessons to help take the safest route to achieving their goals.

Have fun songbirds!
