Thank-you for your comments…

Without hearing you, it is difficult for me to know the reasons why you may be running out of breath quickly, but to start with, observe how well you are “managing” your breath while you sing. Perhaps your intake of breath is good (deep and relaxed without overdoing it) but if too much breath is coming out at a time during phrases, you will find yourself in trouble quickly.

This could be related to the approximation of the vocal folds…

Have you tried the humming exercises?

Try humming the phrases you have difficulty with. It is possible that you are letting too much air escape when you are singing certain consonants or vowels… The vocal folds (also known as cords)can be very loose or very tight, or anything in between. The trick is to find the right balance for free flowing sound… but all depends on the type of sound you are aiming to create as well.

These are elements one studies and practices in voice lessons.

All the best,

Angie

Oh thats great! you are absolutey right! you know whenever i try to produce ‘aah’ ‘s’ ‘ha’ or ‘shh’ abdomen goes inward quickly and i get into trouble when i have to inhale deeply to sing again..it mostly happens when there is sudden change in pitch or note from low to high. musicians also get into trouble wid my bad habit of singing in this way.is there any exercise relating to this or do you have any article for the same which i can see?
”thanks a lot for your guidance i will remember it for sure!”
thanks once again!

Everything is related in singing… one element goes out of balance and it can affect a few others. You can go through the 10 videos found here to see that you are producing sound with ease… but it would be best for you to consult with a voice teacher for one on one lessons – someone who can really take you through the process of creating good habits for your singing approach. :)

Breathing, posture, upper body freedom and release, ease of pronunciation of vowels and consonants, body connection and support, interpretation and presence,…

Angie
